Overlap style Above Ground Pool Liners are installed under the top rail of the pool. If you have an overlap style liner, you can look under the top rail on the outside of the pool, and you will see the liner hanging down.
For a wrinkle free professional installation See Overlap Liner Installation Instructions provided below.
ABOVE GROUND POOL OVERLAP LINER REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS: !. Completely drain pool. 2. Remove all wall fittings. (Skimmers and returns) 3. With a shrp knife, cut old liner directly below the top rails all the way around the pool. 4. Remove old liner from the pool. 5. Smooth pool floor and fill any depressions with sand. 5. Carefully remove new liner from box and spread it out on a clean dry surface, in order to let it warm up in the sun for at least 1 hour. 6. Drape new liner over the pool top rails in such a manner that only 3 or 4 feet of the liner is touching the center of the pool floor, and the liner seam is the same distance from the top rail all the way around the pool. 7. Tape the excess liner that is now draped over the outside of the pool wall to each of the upright support posts. 8. Start filling pool, and as the liner becomes taunt, slowly release a little of the liner at a time being carful to insure that the seam remains level alll the way around the pool. 9. Once the water is about 1/2 way up the side wall, remove two of the top rails at a time, remove the clips and the remaining piece of the old liner, and pull the new liner tight, attach the plastic coping strips, and re-attach the top rails. Proceed around the pool until complete. 10. Re-install the wall fittings when the water level is just a few inches below their intended location. NOTES: By allowing the water pressure to stretch the liner accros the pool floor should provide a smooth, wrinkle free bottom. It is suggested that you do not trim off the excess liner left on the outside of the pool wall, just fold it up under the top rail.

Beaded style liners Above Ground Pool Liners have a groove, or lip, all the way around the top edge of the liner. This lip is snapped into a track that runs all the way around the inside of the pool, up at the very top of the pool wall. This track (bead receiver) is what holds the liner in place, and you should be able to see the track if you look up under the top rail on the inside of the pool.
